”The Lone Ranger” Nears Completion

Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp—-the Dynamic Duo

NEW MEXICO, August 30—–Everyone’s favorite gunslinger is returning to the silver screen! (No, not Roy Rodgers—-After him. No, not John Wayne either.) Ok, one of everyone’s favored gunslingers. The Disney-produced film has just completed the filming stage and is now in post-production. The Lone Ranger is directed by veteran Gore Verbinski, whose most notable work includes the first three Pirates of the Caribbean films, so he is no stranger to tales of action and adventure.

The film will star Armie Hammer (his most recent film was Mirror Mirror) as the Lone Ranger, and the unforgettable Johnny Depp as Tonto. Also to star in this western picture is actress Helena Bonham Carter (who played the Red Queen in Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland) and veteran actor Tom Wilkinson (The Patriot and Batman Begins.)

Despite being so far into production, nothing exciting has been revealed about the plot at this time. The film was put on hold for a long while to allow Depp to complete Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Dark Shadows.

The original script written by writers Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio (also Pirates of the Caribbean veterans) had a supernatural tone to it, however the script has wisely been rewritten to give it a more realistic aspect. It was also filmed on location in New Mexico, giving it that authentic Western feel.

The Lone Ranger will be at a theater near you July 3, 2013.
